4.1.1.1 Data types

A data type is a "type" of data that data can be. You will need to understand what the following data types are.

Type Info
Integer Stores a whole number
Real/Float Stores a real number
Boolean Stores TRUE or FALSE
Character Stores a single character
String Stores text. In some languages, this is stored as an array of characters
Date/Time Stores a date and time
Pointer/Reference Stores a memory location
Records A collection of data, which can be comprised of many different data types. Can be compared to a row in a database.
Arrays A "list" of the same data type
